This qualification reflects the role of an individual working as a senior civil works designer or a para-professional designer, who supports professional engineers. They perform tasks that are broad, specialised, complex and technical and include strategic areas and initiating activities. They are responsible for the design of complex projects to ensure the implementation of the client’s site requirements and are required to demonstrate self-directed application of theoretical and technical knowledge and initiate solutions to technical problems or management requirements.
Entry RequirementsA Pre-Training review is a process undertaken to determine the most suitable and appropriate course and training for an individual. You will undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment relevant to your course. This is to identify whether you need additional support to complete your course successfully. As part of the qualification, all students are required to bring their own laptop with Office 365 (or similar program) to access learning resources, work on assessments and complete tasks for unsupervised study. Students must have an active email address for communication and be contactable by phone (mobile or landline) and by mail (postal address).

Our course has been designed to meet the requirements for the 117576K Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design. It contains 12 units of competency as follows:
The trainer will introduce the unit and the required knowledge and deepen the student’s understanding of topics through a range of teaching methods. The materials are supplied and are comprehensive.
There is an extra 5 hours per week programmed outside of 20 scheduled contact hours where you revise and practice to reinforce classroom learning. Some people will move more quickly through the material and others may take a bit more time depending on your confidence in the topics.
Students are required to complete a range of tasks as part of the assessment requirements for each unit. Assessments methods may include:
RPL and credit transfer (CT) can be applied for at the time of enrolment or during orientation and the original or certified copy must be provided. A fee is payable for assessing your RPL status or processing your credit transfer, please refer to our price lists in the handbook and website. If credit is granted, international students may have their course and visa shortened.
Upon successful completion of all the required units of this course, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification in 117576K Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design Students who do not complete all required units may be eligible for a Statement of Attainment in partial completion of a 117576K Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design
Upon successful completion of this course, students may choose to study and an undergraduate degree at universities or higher education providers that are willing to accept your credentials and experience (subject to higher education providers course entry requirements).
